STEP 8. PERSONAL BRANDING FUNNEL

PBF (PERSONAL BRANDING FUNNEL)
Your Front Door!
You can take the time and learn how to create you own “front door” or you can get up and running quickly within the next few days – and set yourself up with a duplicatable “Plug in & Play” marketing system complete with all the internet marketing training you need for a low monthly fee while you are learning how to build your own PBF. You can literally take these systems and incorporate them into your marketing funnel.
In August of 2008, the first two (2) “Plug n Play” branding systems launched simultaneously and today both systems are killing it! The people involved are the top internet marketers and do very very well for themselves. They are by far the two most popular systems available on the market today. I remember when the first one came out. The market was screaming for what they introduced. And do you know in just 12 months time these 3 men who created and marketed their system generated in excess of $2.2M dollars?!!!
The other system was developed and marketed by a young guy who was just 25 years old and claims he never bought any marketing training courses, etc and was self taught by what he researched online himself! I personally found it hard to believe however I had dinner in Westport CT with this guy back in November of 2007 and he told me straight to my face how he was self taught by watching others on You Tube and reading all that he could find searching online, on Myspace, following, opting in and studying top internet marketers processes (f-r-e-e boot camps, funded proposals, etc).
With the advent and availability of You Tube and all the other information sources available online & with Google’s indexing made it virtually possible for this man to literally learn everything he needed to know at no cost to him other than his time! And then in August 2007, he earned himself his first big hit – $68K in his first 6 weeks in Global Resorts Networks (GRN)! Today – just 2 short years later, this man from Somers, CT is the #1 Internet Marketer online with a list you listens to everything he has to share!
[GRN was a top tier affiliate business opportunity which paid out $1,000 to the enroller and $1,000 to the person who sponsored the enroller of the new affiliate.]
==========================================================
Soon I will disclose these two (2) Plug n Play Branding Systems so you can get yourself registered for the one you choose. Both are excellent systems however you will want to get a feel for each of the two (2) systems before making your decision. Bottom Line, it would be astute and prudent to invest in one of these systems and begin to attend their webinars and go through their back office training after you complete the basic of basic training I have to offer you here in http://johnpiro.com’s Basic Internet Marketing Knowledge! The only caution I have for you is these systems are geared toward the MLM / Home Based Business arena – an insudtry I am fond of yet my interests were always in the corporate arena so I found it difficult for me to literally use their systems for myself yet the process they each use is invaluable knowledge. More on these systems later.

STEPS 9 & 10. INTRO & VIDEO SHARING TOOLS
March 29th, 2010 // 8:15 am @ John Piro // No Comments
Automated Intro Tools
I consider one of the basics to marketing online is the ability to make connections introducing ourselves to others leveraging the power of automated tools for massive exposure.
However, over the past year or so Google has been cracking down on internet marketers shutting their accounts down which has come to be known as the “Google Slap”. Hence you want to be very careful with the tools you employ and do your best to work within the guidlines of what Google will accept.
Automated introduction tools on YouTube, Myspace, Facebook and Twitter are frowned upon and will ultimately find your account(s) shut down or frozen where you are unable to follow other “tweeters”.
Note: Twitter in itself has a host of tools which will assist you in developing your list (ie target market) and monitor your followers and who you choose to follow.
Video Sharing Tools
On the other hand, there are invaluable tools such as Tube Mogul (a Free video sharing tool that will share your video with 15-25 other video sharing sites at NO COST!) and Traffic Geyser (which is a paid video sharing tool which is where all the top marketers and those in the know invest their marketing dollars). However I just noticed the Traffic Geyser creators apparently are promoting their new “Main Street Marketing Machine” they launched the week of April 26th, 2010 and are redirecting everyone who tries to log into their traffic Geyser video sharing tool to this new tool box targeting local businesses.

Social Media Marketing is time consuming. However, allocating just 15 minutes a day to social media will make a difference in your business. Therefore if you choose not to incorporate this free powerful medium into your marketing mix, I have two (2) solutions for you.
However before discussing them I suggest you click on this You Tube video link: “Video on Socialnomics” to understand the critical importance Social Media Marketing has in YOUR Business and/or YOUR Job. Then go to the page here on my site Social Media Marketing Campaign and choose to DIY (see Personal Profile & Building a Network tabs) or have it Done4U (see Social Media Campaign tab).

Personal Profile
March 27th, 2010 // 6:28 pm @ John Piro // No Comments
PERSONAL PROFILE ON SOCIAL NETWORKS
Many people believe their personal profile is not an important part of marketing. The fact of the matter is your personal profile lays the entire foundation for your Social Media Marketing Campaign(s) – especially online!
I hear so many people say – “But I want to promote my business. People don’t need to know who I am!”
If this is how you are thinking I have to blatantly share you might seriously want to become a student of internet marketing and learning how to promote yourself AND THEN your business online. Why? Because people do businesses with people they feel they Know, Like & Trust (KLT). They don’t do business with the name of a company! PEOPLE do BUSINESS with PEOPLE!
Marketing online is all about ATTRACTING YOUR MARKET to you vs PUSHING YOURSELF or YOUR BUSINESS on others! In another section on my site, I share how the world reknown MLM / Home Based Business Top Producer, Mike Dillard, took this basic marketing concept and proved this is what works extremely well no matter where you market as he generated over $10M in revenues over the last five (5) years marketing HIMSELF online by creating several internet marketing information products with his first being his MAGNETIC SPONSORING “funded proposal”.
(I will explain what Funded Proposals are in another section I wll post)
After the first impression your picture makes on your viewer, your profile is where your prospective contact will find out information about you. It is also a great place to insert keywords where people can find you in the social network’s search field and other places online. If you already have a profile on a specific social network such as Facebook or Myspace you use to keep in contact with closer friends then I recommend creating a brand new profile specifically for business and networking. I refer to this as a “Professional Personal” profile.
LinkedIn is more professional, business network in its nature vs Facebook where you may have a more personal or closer network of friends & family who may already be on your list of contacts (ie friends) as well as Myspace. However, I would not discount a social network to brand yourself & market online.
You may be incredibly surprised by the results you achieve on some of social networks. Remember, people are people. Most are interested in improving themself as an individual and are probably online trying to promote their business or what they do to earn money.
With this in mind, your LinkedIn profile may be well positioned already however your Facebook & Myspace profiles may need a little work. Or as I suggest – create a new professional personal profile page for your business networking on these sites. This will allow you to create a targeted list of friends in your niche market or are interested in what you have to share on this profile vs the original you created which is typically more personal. By creating a more professional personal profile you could avoid negative comments, inappropriate photos, etc posted on your page from your old school friends and buddies who may not understand your social network marketing strategy!
If you would prefer to keep your more personal profile on a social network platform such as Facebook & Myspace, again, you may choose to add a Professional Profile targeted to your Business Networking interests to separate your business from personal contacts.
HOW TO BUILD A PROFESSIONAL PERSONAL PROFILE
1. Profile Picture
If you are looking to portray a professional image with your social network marketing then I recommend adding a professional photograph to your profile. I don’t recommend putting an image or logo as your profile picture. This could be seen as less personal and there will be a percentage of people will not accept you as a friend. Depending on your type of business, product or service I would tailor your profile picture to suit. Remember you only get one chance at making a good first impression!
2. Information Section
Depending on the social network platform there may be sections for information on your profile or where you can create an “About Me” section. Since Facebook is the number one social media platform currently I will direct my suggestions to it.
On Facebook, the first box is just underneath your profile picture. All you have to do to edit it is simply click on the pencil in the top right corner of this box and start writing about yourself. To add a website address make sure you add http://www.YourDomainName.ext or http://YourDomainName.ext . This will ensure that the link is clickable (It’s not necessary to add the “www” however you do need to use the “http://”).
The next information section is just below the first box. Again click on the pencil and you will be given options as to what you would like to be shown on your profile wall. This includes – Birthday, Current City, Home Town and Website(s). Fill this section out by clicking on the edit information link once you click on the pencil.
The third and most important information section is the ‘Info’ tab located on the top tool bar in your profile. There is a basic, personal, contact, education and work sections. Complete all of these sections in detail. This is where people will find out information about you to see if they share any common interests. Write with passion and tell people about things that interest you. Your target market will resonate with you and is the first step in building a solid relationship.
In the personal information section the words appear as a hyperlink and are in fact keywords used in searches and advertising on Facebook. Try to include keywords based on your target market.
For example: If your niche market is Personal Development include keywords such as The Secret, Law of Attraction, Think and Grow Rich, etc. The Movies section, Books, Interests, etc are great areas to load with valuable keywords. Spend a good amount of time on this section; people want to see that you are a real person with real interests.
Since marketing is all about building your list and then developing a relationship with those on your list I suggest bringing your reader to a “Call to Action” and give them the opportunity to “opt in” to your list.
You can see an example on my http://facebook.com/johnpirojr info page. At the end of my info section, I suggest my reader click on my http://johnpiro.com link.
[NOTE: I know I have stated you want to stay away from posting links to your business however I was refering to links to your business or opportunity before people get to know you. You will note I am suggesting to my readers if they are interested in learning more about how to brand themselves and develop their internet marketing knowledge they can go to this page and it may entice them to opt in to my list at that time because I am offering massive use value for their benefit!]
3. Photos
Like the info section, people want to see that you are a real person so add some photos and albums. Include pictures of travel, adventure, family, vacations, business conventions, etc. If you have pictures relating to your line of work or have pictures with people of influence then include them in this section too as it will add credibility to your profile.
4. Applications
Once you have filled out the basic tabs, you have the option of adding applications. To view all applications you can go to
http://www.facebook.com/applications
Here you can search for and view the different application types, check their star rating, description and add them to your profile.
Some great applications to add to your profile include:
Networked blogs – Skype me – Social RSS – You Tube Box – My html / Profile html – Web Presence & more.
There are quite a number of applications you can add to your profile to customize it to your ideas.
To add the applications, type the heading in the Facebook Search at the top of the page. Sort by ‘Applications’, click the heading, add to profile and allow. Once you have added your applications to your profile you will need to go to your application setting link located in your account tab on your profile (top right of screen). Once here, you are able to edit the settings for each of your applications.
One application I suggest adding to your profile is the ‘My Html’ or ‘Profile Html’ tab. This is where you can place a banner image with a link leading back to a website (or fan page, but I will get to that in another post) or you can place an opt-in form to capture details of visitors to your profile.
5. Adding Content
The most important marketing strategy on any of the social network platforms is to add valuable content on a consistent basis (relating to your niche market). Every time you update your status, write a note, add a link, photo, video or any other content it will not only appear on your profile, but on Facebook it will be seen on the wall of your friends as well. If you are adding quality content you will find people wanting to know more about you and what you do.
When you add quality content on a consistent basis you will start to build a reputation with your friends as someone who is always adding value (and doing things differently to 90% of people on Facebook). In the future when you promote Groups, Pages or Events you will get a much higher opt-in rate as people will already know who you are and what you have to offer. People will start coming to your profile to look at your page even if they don’t see your posts on the wall! Adding regular content doesn’t have to be hard. A great way to add good content is to add the YouTube box application and search YouTube for some great videos relating to your niche market. Videos are a great way to engage your friends and if you can tie it in to your business, product or service then that are even better. It doesn’t have to be something linked to your business though; it may be an inspiring video, a quote to your status update or an article link that you found interesting. Keeping consistent in this area is very important. It doesn’t take long but has a big effect on how you are seen on Facebook. Aim for one post per day and make sure you spend some time commenting on other friends posts too!
6. Privacy Settings
Social media is about establishing and building relationships, whether they are personal or business connections. In many cases, you may find that some connections will blur the lines between the personal and business realms. It is also important to be transparent and authentic when using social media to market a business. People like to connect with people, not faceless brands. Furthermore, it is these personal connections that will lead to business, referrals, and word of mouth marketing for your company. If you are concerned about exposing portions of your profile to these different connections – perhaps you still don’t want your business connections to see your personal photos – Facebook fortunately allows you to customize your privacy settings to control who sees which portions of your profile.
You simply need to go to your account tab and scroll down to Privacy settings. Go to profile settings and choose from there. You can even customize down to specific people if you wish. You can also set your contact information, application and websites, who can find you in search results and a block list from this section.
At this stage you should have ideas for a Marketing Plan and a new Profile with information, pictures and applications. Now it is time to start adding friends and building a targeted list of followers.
In the next section I discuss Building A Network by finding the right friends and also discuss social network etiquette.

Building a Network
March 26th, 2010 // 7:19 pm @ John Piro // 5 Comments
BUILDING A NETWORK of CONTACTS
Building a strong list of friends from your target market is extremely important. These friends are going to be sharing your content and bringing you into connection with their friends as well. If you have a certain target market you are trying to connect with, building a strong network is an ideal start.
There are a number of ways to find friends and request friends on Facebook and most social networks. The first step is to request people you already know you would like in your business network. The best way to do this is to go to you account tab and click on ‘edit friends’.
From here you can search for friends through their name or email address using the search box. You also have the option of importing friends from your email account through the ‘find friends’ tab. This is a fast and easy option if you have a number of business contacts you would like to bring over to your social network account from your email accounts.
On Facebook, a great option available is to place your friends into lists. This way you can target them into certain groups. To do this you simply click on the ‘Create New List’ next to the search friend’s box, type in a list name and then click on the friends you wish to add to your new list.
When you have finished importing your current friends you can then start adding new friends. This is where you will target your list. The best way to find friends is to join like minded groups or fan pages where your target market would be interested.
It is very important to get clear on what your target market is prior to starting this strategy. When searching for groups and pages to find your target market of friends you can search a number of ways such as location, lifestyle, work type, interest, etc. Just type what you are looking for into the search box. Then simply click on that group or fan page, become a fan (or member) and then scroll down the page to locate the box with all the fans or group members. It’s always best to read the info section to make sure the group or page is in fact what you are interested in.
Click on ‘See All’ to bring up a list of all fans or members and then click ‘Add as Friend’.
This brings us to the next step which as far as I am concerned is one of the most important strategies in connecting with others in the social networks and one that is overlooked by 95% of people. This strategy will dramatically improve friend response and increase the relationship building aspect of any social network. It is also a form of social network etiquette the majority of people simply do not take the time to do.
The key when you are requesting friends is to leave them a personal message. Your message should be short with information of why you want to be their friend.
Some things you may want to add include:
- A greeting
- Where you found them (i.e. what group or page)
- An association of that group or page to you ( a book you read, your line of work, etc)
- That you would like to find out more about them or that you are looking to network with like-minded people.
- Leave with an open ended question and sign your Name
On Facebook, to add a personal message click ‘Add Friend’ and then a new box will come up. There will be a link in the bottom left corner saying ‘Add a personal message…’ Click that link and then type in your message.
************************************************
Example Message (don’t copy this word for word, you need to be original!)
Hi Mary, my name is John, I am also a member of the ‘_____________’ group. I look forward to connecting with you soon.” Take care, John
************************************************
Make sure when you are requesting friends, you just request the ones that you’d like to be friends with. Remember you want a targeted list. You can send a generic message to each person by simply copying and pasting the original message and changing the name (if it is from the same group or page).
You can also modify the message for each person if you wish to make it more personal. For example you may see that they are from Australia. You can then add to your pasted message and ask ‘which part of Australia are you from?’ That way it is more personal and you are more likely to get a response and be able to start building a relationship.
There are also a few DON’TS when requesting friends:
DO NOT post any links to a website in your friend request.
DO NOT try and sell them on your business before you have even met them.
DO NOT talk about your business, focus more on them and what they do.
DO NOT be rude or obnoxious.
Most people send random friend requests with no personal messages and wonder why they don’t receive a good response! If you request many friends and have a low acceptance rate then the social network (esp Facebook) might actually cancel your account.
If you target your market and write a personal message without selling your business your opt-in rate will increase dramatically!
The best practice and proper social network etiquette is to leave a personal message following the steps above. This will increase your friend response; help you to build better relationships with your new friends and increase the chance that those people will go on to share your content, join your group or page, attend your events and invite their friends.
Remember your list of friends on the social networks are built on R-E-L-A-T-I-O-N-S-H-I-P-S. This is the core tosocial network site. The reason people struggle to succeed on social networks for marketing their business, product or service is because they do not understand the key principles of how the sites work. The fastest way to scare someone away is to start talking about your business as soon as you meet them. Don’t start pitching your business or opportunity to them. Instead enquire about them, their interests and what they do. They will naturally go to your profile to find out more about you as you are taking an interest in them.
If you have properly set up your profile with good relevant content then people will come back to you and start asking you about your line of work. You will also be seen as someone different from the masses as you have a professional looking profile, you don’t pitch your business, you send a personal message and take an interest in them.
By dedicating a small part of your day building relationships with people, you will see a dramatic increase in the back end production of what you are trying to achieve. On Facebook, the start of your ‘Fandom’ starts here. A successful Facebook marketing campaign is all about standing out from the crowd.
Remember this motto for Facebook Success!
Build Relationships >> Provide Massive Value >>
Over Deliver = Increased Revenues!!!
